Proceedings Brought By a Leading Financial Institution
James Dickinson and Guillaume Staal acted on behalf of one of Jersey’s leading financial institutions in connection with breach of restrictive covenants proceedings brought against a former employee and his new employer. The client obtained an injunction and significant damages.
Proceedings Brought By a Leading Financial Institution
James Dickinson and Guillaume Staal acted on behalf of another of Jersey’s leading financial institutions in connection with breaches of restrictive covenants and the recovery of client information misappropriated by a former employee.

The former employee was subsequently successfully prosecuted under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2004 and made the subject of a Jersey Financial Services Commission public statement and directions preventing him from holding any position in the business of a person registered under the Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998.

Guillaume Staal acted for the Respondent in relation to this appeal against the Employment Tribunal’s award, following a finding of unfair dismissal. The client obtained an indemnity costs order in relation to an abandoned ground of appeal, whilst the hearing of the second ground of appeal resulted in the Royal Court provided rare guidance on the interpretation of Article 77(F) of the Employment (Jersey) Law 2003.
