Compliance Officer

Purpose:

The compliance function is an essential part of Dickinson Gleeson’s business and is overseen by its partners.

The firm requires a Compliance Officer to support the partners with the onboarding of clients and monitoring firm activities to enable it to comply with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies and procedures.

The Compliance Officer is required to assist with, identify and manage Dickinson Gleeson’s risk exposure by ensuring that the systems and controls which exist are effective and relevant in order to protect the firm from both internal and external risk factors, whilst ensuring that there is a culture of compliance and high ethical standards.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the onboarding of new clients / matters.
  • Undertake client screening and ongoing monitoring to include Conflict Checks, background, or equivalent searches
  • Complete Customer Due Diligence (CDD).
  • Comply with all relevant internal policies and procedures
  • Undertake CDD reviews including trigger events and Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), Sanctions and Liaison notices.
  • Review the output generated by the screening and monitoring activities to determine whether any relevant trends or information should be communicated to the firm’s partners and staff
  • Assist with conducting Internal Monitoring (CMP) of adherence to internal policies
  • Continuous process improvement and sharing best practice
  • Support with regulatory, audit and similar inspections
  • Undertake Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and oversee the firm’s internal training
  • Maintain Compliance Registers
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Senior Associate

We are currently seeking an experienced skilled senior associate to work in our growing non-contentious team.  

The non-contentious practice offers an unusual breadth of work of excellent calibre in the trusts, corporate and finance spheres.   The successful candidate will have experience advising on all aspects of corporate and banking transactions including advising on corporate issues from incorporation, to merging, selling, re-domiciling, and winding up and acting as transaction counsel in relation to securitisations and other structured finance transactions and on a wide range of corporate finance transactions including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and disposals with cross-border elements. Funds experience would be a useful add-on. Other relevant non-contentious experience includes advising trustees, directors and others in relation private client structures involving trusts, companies and partnerships.

The ideal candidate will have 5 – 7 years relevant experience in Jersey and / or the UK but other levels of experience will be considered.  

Associate

We are also continuing to seek exceptional litigators to work in our expanding commercial litigation team.

The practice attracts high value work and is focused upon providing advice in relation to trusts, estates, company, funds, fraud and insolvency-based disputes.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1-year relevant experience in Jersey and / or the UK but other levels of experience will be considered.

Strong academic and inter-personal skills are required, together with high attention to detail and an ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
